The celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee are fast approaching and this historic event will be commemorated across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, as well as in many schools. In this blog, we will explore 5 jubilee-themed fundraising ideas that can inspire your Parent Teacher Association. If you need supplies, we have you covered.
This year marks a momentous occasion for the British Monarchy, the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Her Majesty the Queen is set to make history by becoming the first British monarch to celebrate 70 years of service after ascending to the throne in 1952, making this the Queen’s fourth major Jubilee Celebration.
Here are 5 ideas that can inspire your PTA Jubilee celebrations and to help raise important funds for your school.
The Afternoon Tea is a fine British tradition. Invite your school community to enjoy and indulge in sandwiches that are delicately sliced into fingers, scones with clotted cream and jam and an array of other sweet treats. Top it off with a selection of teas and summer fruit juices.
Encourage your school to dress up in 1950s attire to accompany your afternoon tea and finish off the occasion with music from the 1950s, create your own playlist that includes the greats, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, the Drifters and Ray Charles.
Set up your very own raffle.
Encourage each year group, including teachers, to donate prizes that are associated with the red, white and blue colour of the Great British flag. This is a great way to help raise money for your school, and why not even digitise your raffle by using a text raffle service and move away from the traditional raffle books - this allows you to maximise your donation potential and reach relatives and grandparents that may not be able to attend to collect their tickets.
Create a collection of royal cakes and biscuits from well-known British recipes and inspire your students to put on their Great British Bake Off aprons to whip up some classic cakes fit for any Royal occasion. Then invite your school community to come and try your creations. Let’s start with;
The Bakewell Tart - originating from Derbyshire back in 1845, the jammy filling,
topped with icing and almonds has been a UK favourite for years’.
The Traditional Scone - an icon of British baking for centuries and the essential
cake to have alongside your afternoon tea, whether you prefer cream and then
jam or jam and then cream. This cake is perfect for any royal celebration.
The Victoria Sponge - everyone is partial to sponge cake and what’s more fitting
for the Jubilee than enjoying a cake that was named after Queen Victoria.
We can’t help with the baking, but we can help with your stand decoration.
Make the day memorable with Jubilee branded merchandise. Who doesn’t love branded merchandise? Here is our selection of Jubilee Merchandise;
Platinum Jubilee Mugs - our mugs can be personalised to add your school name
or logo. The perfect keepsake for your students.
Platinum Jubilee Medal - if you’re planning on adding a little competition to the
student bake sale or sports day event. Why not gift the participants with their very own jubilee inspired medal.
Platinum Jubilee Coin - another perfect souvenir to help raise funds for your
school, that can be engraved with your school name.
This is a fun one!
Decorate your school with a Platinum Jubilee theme and get your students in the celebratory mood. Inspire your students to become creative and allow them to express themselves through creating artwork and games. Set up a craft fair to celebrate the Jubilee, where the pupils can get involved in creating their own royal crown or creating their own Jubilee flag. Have the students display their work for parents and guests of the school to view!
