The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is fast approaching, and we’re here to make sure you get all the information you need to prepare.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne. This momentous occasion marks the first time in history that a British Monarch has celebrated 70 years of service; and will be celebrated across the UK and Commonwealth throughout 2022.
There are a few celebrations to look forward to throughout the year, all following the official Jubilee date of the 6th of February. These celebrations will occur during the weekend of the Queen’s Official birthday (the 2nd June), which is becoming an extended bank holiday weekend to accommodate.
The first celebration with be the Queen’s Birthday Parade, which will move back from the second weekend of June to the 2nd of June. Known as Trooping the Colour, this parade will involve over a thousand soldiers, horses and musicians parading together in celebration. The Royal Family will also observe an RAF Flypast from Buckingham Palace following the parade.
On the 3rd of June, St Paul’s Cathedral will host the National Service of Thanksgiving to the Queen. The ceremony will see dignitaries and other important and influential figures come together to honour the Queen.
The Platinum Party at the Palace is the event to look out for on the 4th of June. The party, held at Buckingham Palace, will feature some of the world’s biggest stars, from musicians and actors to entrepreneurs and politicians. This show will be broadcast live on the BBC and is the perfect viewing for your Jubilee parties.
The 5th of June, and the final day of Jubilee weekend, is for you. This day exists to encourage communities to host their own Jubilee parties to help build and grow connections. During the day, a pageant will take place outside Buckingham Palace. This pageant will host thousands of people from across the UK and Commonwealth, and viewers will enjoy a range of activities celebrating the Queen.
Of course, there are more celebrations than those written above, including your own!
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend is the perfect time to host your own Jubilee party. These Jubilee parties can be anything, too, from a party with your friends at home, to grand outdoor street parties, with bunting waving. Here are a few ideas for your Platinum Jubilee event:
